Joanne H. Raphael

Joanne H. Raphael is executive vice president and chief legal officer of PPL Corporation.

Prior to this, Raphael served as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary since January 2019, and as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary since June 2015. In addition to leading PPL’s legal department during this time, Raphael was also responsible for PPL’s compliance, federal government relations, corporate communications and philanthropy functions.

During her 35-year career at PPL, Raphael has served in a number of roles, including chief external affairs officer and various roles in the Office of General Counsel.

Raphael has guided the company’s legal, policy and communication strategies through times of major transitions, including mergers and acquisitions. She has also led the community affairs, environmental, state government relations and real estate groups.

Raphael holds degrees from Wellesley College and Stanford Law School. She also completed the Developing Managerial Excellence program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.

She serves as chair of the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley’s board of directors. She is also a director of the PPL Foundation, which contributes millions each year to improve the lives of people in the communities PPL serves.
