Brighter Futures Scholarships.

At PPL, we believe vibrant, prosperous communities need educated residents who are ready to tackle today’s problems and find solutions for the future. We believe expanding access to high-quality education benefits society and creates opportunities for a better life.

Investing in Students

The PPL Foundation will award $1 million over the next decade through the Powering a Brighter Future Scholarship program, which aims to advance diversity, equity and inclusion, and attract more women and minorities to careers in engineering, information technology, and tech and trade roles.

The scholarship program will award $100,000 annually.

Power Scholars

The Power Scholars scholarships are available to minority and female students from PPL’s Pennsylvania and Rhode Island service territory pursuing a degree in Engineering and Information Technology. The awards are available to students entering any year of full-time, post-secondary education.

Scholar Spotlight: Mandy Liu

“As a first-generation college student, being able to attend college and carry on the hopes of my family is something I take pride in. At the same time, I really hope that I will be a part of the younger generation that can help bring positive change to the community that provided me with the tools to thrive. This scholarship will help me by lessening the financial burden of attending college and at the same time provide me with the motivation to continue on my journey to success.”

Mandy is a rising sophomore at Lehigh University.

Powerful Tech and Trade

As an energy company, we also place a high value on skilled trades workers. The Powerful Tech and Trade scholarships are available for minority and female students entering any year of a full-time, post-secondary career training at a community college or technical school in PPL’s Pennsylvania and Rhode Island service territory.

The annual application period is open from Jan. 25 to March 2.
