Jennifer L. McDonough

Jennifer L. McDonough is PPL’s vice president and deputy general counsel.

With almost two decades of experience as a corporate and transactional attorney, McDonough oversees the day-to-day operations of PPL’s corporate legal group. She leads a team that provides complex legal services in support of the company’s strategic and financial initiatives; advises on financial, commercial and corporate governance matters as well as mergers and acquisitions, securities and cybersecurity; and supports PPL’s board and committees.

McDonough joined PPL in September 2017 from Rex Energy Corporation in State College, Pennsylvania, where she served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for the public oil and gas company. From April 2011 to 2017, McDonough directed all legal, regulatory and compliance matters and served as the functional head of strategic communications for Rex, guiding the company through financing transactions valued at over $2.6 billion.

Before joining Rex Energy Corporation, McDonough spent six years with Kennametal Inc., a diversified global technology and manufacturing company in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, first as a senior corporate attorney, then as assistant general counsel and assistant secretary. She was the principal legal advisor for the company’s finance, treasury, business development, investor relations, corporate relations and government relations functions. She was also counsel and advisor to the company’s board of directors and its committees.

McDonough spent the previous four years as a business and finance attorney for Morgan Lewis in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she concentrated on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, corporate governance and general corporate matters for the international law firm.

McDonough earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and a juris doctor from the Duquesne University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude.

She is a director for Easterseals of Eastern Pennsylvania and a volunteer for various youth sports associations.
