Standing Against Hunger: PPL’s foundations pledge $200K in emergency food aid

In response to growing concerns about food insecurity, PPL’s affiliated foundations are stepping up to support vulnerable communities across Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

The foundations have contributed $200,000 to provide critical funding to keep food pantries stocked and families supported.

“We are committed to helping our neighbors through difficult times,” said Lissette Santana, president of the PPL Foundation. “We’re proud to stand alongside community agencies responding to a growing public health challenge and working to provide a critical safety net for those most at risk.”

The PPL Foundation (doing business in Rhode Island as the Rhode Island Energy Foundation) and the LG&E and KU Foundation have pledged a total of $200,000 to support emergency food access and financial support across the communities served by PPL’s operating utilities.

This funding will help keep essential food pantries stocked with critical staples and ensure that food and financial support is distributed efficiently to where it’s needed most.

This emergency support builds on the PPL Foundation’s ongoing commitment to helping families in need. This year, the Foundation has also contributed $800,000 for energy assistance programs in Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. These contributions supported the Good Neighbor Energy Fund,  managed by the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation and the United Way of Rhode Island, helps individuals facing financial hardship stay warm and safe.
