Good Neighbor Energy Fund assists local families in need

The PPL Foundation doubled its annual donation to the Good Neighbor Energy Fund in 2025 from $200,000 to $400,000.

This significant increase in the Foundation’s support complements PPL Electric Utilities’ strong commitment to assisting local families in need and strengthening the community.

The Good Neighbor Energy Fund, administered by the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation, is designed to address the growing energy cost burdens faced by households in eastern and central Pennsylvania. Grants are awarded to nonprofits with existing utility assistance programs, which then provide crucial support to households earning up to 300% of the federal poverty level, with aid capped at $1,000 per household.

“We recognize that rising costs of goods and services, create challenges for many families and individuals, and we’re pleased to be able to provide this additional support to help them navigate financial hardships,” said Christine Martin, president of PPL Electric Utilities and an officer of the PPL Foundation. “By empowering nonprofits already on the ground with the resources they need, we’re able to get help to families faster. This program underscores the importance of partnership in addressing community challenges.”

Contributions to the Good Neighbor Energy Fund are just one of the many ways the PPL Foundation provides much needed support in our communities. In 2024, the Foundation contributed more than $5 million to support nonprofits working to make a positive impact in our communities. Since 2015, the PPL Foundation has contributed more than $34 million to local causes.
