Today (11/29) marks Giving Tuesday, which kicks off the charitable season when many people focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. In recognition of this day, PPL employees are banding together to make a difference with the gift of service and donation.
More than 13,000 employees live and work in the communities that we serve, from bustling downtowns and urban neighborhoods to suburban communities and rolling hills of farmland.
For PPL Electric Utilities support engineer, Allyson Kilheffer, helping to keep customers’ lights on during the day isn’t enough. Helping to keep them safe in her off-hours is important too.
Dedication to the communities we serve is at the heart of our values. Our employees across the United Kingdom and United States bring that dedication to life, donating time and effort to help revitalize neighborhoods and improve the lives of people who call our regions home.
As the threats to our business and energy infrastructure evolve, how we respond to those threats is also evolving. In the most recent issue of the Edison Electric Institute’s (EEI) Electric Perspectives magazine Bill Spence, chairman, president and CEO, discusses the power of collaboration in protecting our critical assets and creating a secure and resilient energy grid.
For nearly 100 years, PPL has been turning the power on for our customers. But, our job doesn’t end there. Serving the communities we call home is at the core of our values. This value runs deep at PPL and the spirit of volunteerism and philanthropy is part of our culture. It’s how we do business, and it’s our way of keeping our promise to support a brighter future.
Emergencies can surface quickly, so being prepared for the unexpected is always good advice. Do you know what your first steps would be in an emergency? Does your family know what to do in a disaster?
A switch flips; the lights go on. A button is pressed; the local weatherman comes to life on television. A dial is turned; an air conditioner whirs to life cooling a stifling room. As each new day begins and ends, we are there, powering our customers’ lives. But we understand that our customers, and their communities, need more than just power to thrive.
