Why energy costs are rising – and what we’re doing about it

Across the country, utilities are facing the same challenge: energy supply prices have increased due to growing demand, limited supply and market conditions that drive up costs. While PPL does not control or profit from these supply costs, we are committed to helping customers manage them.  
 

We are taking proactive steps to address both the immediate pressures customers face and the system-level challenges that drive long-term energy affordability concerns. 

Managing the costs we control

Nearly 3% average reduction in operating costs since 2022, totaling $170 million in savings, with a target of $175 million by the end of 2026

$1.4 billion in infrastructure improvements funded through efficiency without increasing customer bills

Extended time between rate requests (as much as 5-10 years between base rate cases) as we continued investing in reliability and resilience
