Joseph P. Bergstein, Jr.

Joseph P. Bergstein, Jr. is executive vice president and chief financial officer of PPL Corporation, one of the largest investor-owned utilities in the United States. With more than two decades of experience in the utility industry, Bergstein oversees PPL’s investor relations, treasury, financial planning and analysis, tax, risk management, controllership, strategic development and supply chain functions. In addition to his role as CFO, Bergstein was appointed the chief transformation officer in January 2023 to oversee the Transformation Management Office, which focuses on leading the strategy to create the company’s OnePPL operating model.

Bergstein previously served as PPL Corporation’s vice president-Investor Relations and Corporate Development & Planning. In this role, he led PPL’s Investor Relations program, provided leadership to strategic initiatives and spearheaded corporate budgeting and financial planning activities, including the development of the company’s multi-year business plan.

Bergstein also served as treasurer from 2016 to 2018, leading the company’s financing and investing activities, including capital market transactions and mitigation of interest rate and foreign currency risk.

Since joining PPL in 1999, Bergstein led PPL’s investor relations efforts during two of the largest cash acquisitions in the U.S. utility sector, as well as during the spinoff of PPL’s competitive energy business. Prior to joining PPL, he worked at Amerigas Partners, L.P.

Bergstein is a native of the Allentown area and earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Bloomsburg University.

He serves on the board of trustees and as vice chairman of ArtsQuest in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and on the investment subcommittee of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He is also on the board of the PPL Foundation, which contributes millions each year to improve the lives of people in the communities PPL serves.
