David K. Arthur

David K. Arthur is PPL’s vice president–Federal Affairs. In this role, Arthur coordinates PPL’s lobbying and government relations activities in Washington, D.C., working closely with key legislators and government officials.

He also serves as co-chair of PPL’s People for Good Government, the company’s voluntary, nonpartisan, employee-supported political action committee.

Arthur has more than 20 years of federal public policy experience. Prior to joining PPL, he spent several years as director of Federal Legislative Affairs with Houston-based independent power producer Calpine Corporation, and 10 years working as a federal lobbyist for a Midwestern law firm where he represented a variety of entities, including rural electric cooperatives, financial service companies, municipalities, universities and tier-one automotive manufacturers.

Prior to working in government relations, Arthur spent five years in the government, working on both Capitol Hill and at the Environmental Protection Agency.

Arthur received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy, politics and economics from Balliol College, Oxford University, and he also holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Swarthmore College.

Arthur serves as the executive sponsor of FUSE, PPL’s business resource group dedicated to ensuring that the company’s lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender employees feel comfortable and valued. He also is a board member of the Business-Government Relations Council, which strives to increase mutual understanding between senior government and business officials. Arthur also is a member of the American Association of Blacks in Energy.
