PPL joins more than 150 businesses to make unprecedented commitment to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace

Chairman, President and CEO Bill Spence announced that PPL Corporation signed onto the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace. This commitment is driven by a realization that CEOs and the companies they lead can play a critical role in addressing diversity and inclusion.

By signing on to this commitment, PPL joins more than 150 companies in the pledge to take action to cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed and respected, where employees feel encouraged to discuss diversity and inclusion, and where best known — and unsuccessful — actions can be shared across organizations via a unified hub, CEOAction.com, in an effort to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

“By joining this pledge, we reconfirm our company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion,” said Spence. “Through this pledge, we will continue to foster a state of mutual respect, understanding and appreciation for each person’s differences — regardless of age, race, gender, ethnicity or whom you love. I am committed to cultivating a work environment at PPL, where employees can openly address challenges, present opportunities and share perspectives.”

The CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion represents more than 50 industries, all 50 U.S. states and millions of employees globally. The following three action pillars are the central focus of the pledge and align the organizations to help make collective and impactful change.

  • Cultivate a workplace that supports open dialogue on complex — and sometimes difficult — conversations about diversity and inclusion.
  • Expand and enrich unconscious bias education.
  • Share best known — and unsuccessful — actions to learn and grow from others.

“These actions are already coming to life throughout our company,” said Spence. “Partnerships with community organizations and employee-led initiatives are creating new opportunities to have critical conversations about diversity and bringing new perspectives to our workplace.”
