Since 2016, Cover to Cover has donated nearly 130,000 books to children throughout PPL’s 29-county service area, who would otherwise miss out on reading and learning opportunities over the summer.

PPL Foundation’s Cover to Cover program provides new and gently used books to children grades K-3 throughout the communities we serve in Pennsylvania in the hopes of encouraging summer reading to prevent a lapse in learning. The program also strives to increase the love of reading and curiosity in a way that is accessible and convenient for all.

Studies show that children who miss out on reading and learning opportunities over the summer can fall behind as much as two grade levels by the fifth grade. Providing books to those students over the summer closes that gap.

Through this program, we have the potential to positively affect thousands of young lives. Giving the gift of reading lets us help turn the page on child literacy.

Our employees play a vital role in the Cover to Cover program. Whether it be donating gently used books or reading to children, PPL volunteers are dedicated to turning the page on child literacy. Some special guests have even joined in on the fun in an extra effort to promote the love of reading.
