Brighter Futures
The PPL Foundation will award $1 million in scholarships over the next decade through the Powering a Brighter Future Scholarship program, which aims to advance diversity, equity and inclusion and attract more women and minorities to careers in engineering, information technology, and tech and trade roles.
The scholarship program will award $100,000 annually to individuals pursuing degrees in these fields at qualifying colleges, universities, and technical schools.

Scholar Spotlights
Mustapha Salau
This fall, Mustapha will be attending the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State University where he hopes to study mechanical engineering.
“Growing up in the Lehigh Valley, PPL was always been a household name. From the clean energy initiatives back in middle school to the scholarship programs for high schoolers, PPL has been there to impact the lives of the next generation,” says Mustapha. “I hope that one day I’ll be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.”
Ellissa Kunkel
In high school, Ellissa was involved in a number of activities playing varsity field hockey and basketball as well as being an active member in 4-H, the Girl Scouts and Future Farmers of America, for which she received her Keystone State degree. A Powerful Tech and Trade Scholarship recipient, Elissa plans to study welding and metal fabrication with the goal of one day owning her own business.
Scholarships will be available each year to qualifying students enrolled in trade and degree programs. Applications are accepted from January 25 to March 2 every year.
Power Scholars
The Power Scholars scholarship program will award 15 scholarships to minority and female students pursuing a degree in Engineering and Information Technology. The $5,000 awards are available to students entering any year of full-time, post-secondary education at a college or university.
Powerful Tech and Trade
As an energy company, we also place a high value on skilled trades workers. The Powerful Tech and Trade scholarship program will award 10 $2,500 scholarships for minority and female students entering any year of a full-time, post-secondary career training at a community college or technical school in PPL’s Pennsylvania service territory.
