Western Power Distribution employees help make holiday bright for children in need

Employees at Western Power Distribution in the U.K. donated gifts to Barnardo’s Children’s Charities to help make the holidays brighter and happier for more than 100 at-risk children this year.

Saida Akhtar and Information Center analyst at WPD organizes the annual collection and is impressed by her colleagues giving spirit. “I’ve been coordinating donations for a number of years and I am blown away by the generosity of my colleagues,” Akhtar said. “The number of gifts donated seems to increase year after year and it’s great that we are able to help so many children during the Christmas season.”

Barnardo’s Regional Director Hugh Sherriffe said, “I’d like to thank WPD for their generous donation. It will go such a long way to making a lasting difference to the lives of children, young people and families, especially at this time of year. We are extremely grateful.”

Last year, Barnardo’s assisted more than 272,000 children, young people and families by providing more than 1,000 services, including efforts to provide emotional and program support for children facing abuse, poverty or other hardships. For more information visit www.barnardos.org.uk.
