Tim Lee turns an abandoned building into a community resource benefitting thousands of families

Tim Lee is the driving force behind The Mountain Center, a facility that offers a multitude of services to Monroe County, Pa., residents through Pocono Services for Family and Children.
Four years ago, Lee turned an abandoned school building into a community resource center that has assisted thousands of Monroe County residents in 2019.

The $10,000 grant will be applied toward their fifth year of service developing their “cradle to career” seamless continuum of care, education, support and guidance with the collaboration of all the partner agencies that have joined them under one roof.

The mission of Pocono Services for Family and Children is to provide resources for the evolving needs of the community’s children and families in support of efforts to achieve their goals. PSFC has been the national and state Head Start grantee for Monroe County since 1965, providing school readiness and supportive dual generation family resources to children and families living in poverty in the community.

“We are certainly honored to receive such recognition. I believe this confirms the dedicated commitment of our entire Pocono Services for Families and Children team to bring the idea of The Mountain Center to its full expression of putting hope within reach for our families and children in this previously un-served community,” Lee said. “To borrow a common expression, we look forward to increasing the intensity of ‘the shining bright light on the hill’ that is The Mountain Center serving our community.”
