Matthew B. Green
PPL’s digital transformation strategy is focused on integrating digital technology across the business to enable PPL companies to work safer, smarter and more efficiently; strengthen grid resilience; advance a sustainable energy future; empower employees; and deliver value for customers.
Prior to his current role, Green served as chief information officer for PPL Electric Utilities and was responsible for overseeing the Information Technology function for PPL Corporation’s Pennsylvania-based electric delivery operations.
A PPL veteran of nearly two decades, Green formerly served as director of Business Strategy & Development. In that role, he was responsible for developing PPL Electric Utilities’ long-term strategic plan by assessing the myriad of new technologies in the marketplace and working to understand how business models and regulatory environments may change in the future.
Green also has held multiple manager- and director-level positions in engineering, operations and planning with PPL. He has been instrumental in positioning PPL as an industry leader in smart grid technology, heading early development and deployment of smart grid systems at PPL Electric Utilities with the support of a U.S. Department of Energy grant.
While leading PPL Electric Utilities’ engineering and planning organizations, Green helped build a more resilient and secure electric grid for PPL customers.
Prior to coming to PPL in 2005, Green was a lead researcher at the Intelligent Systems Laboratory where he wrote several notable papers in pattern recognition and face detection.
Green holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in business administration from Lehigh University.
