Programs

Displays, exhibits, computer games, films and lectures available at the Susquehanna Energy Information Center provide people of all ages with information about electricity, nuclear power and the Reservation Form and Calendarenvironment.

Specific programs offered by the Center:

  • Energy and the Susquehanna Plant describes different forms of energy from the time of the cavemen to the present. The program includes a discussion about how the Susquehanna nuclear power plant works followed by a bus tour around the perimeter of the complex.
  • What is Radiation defines radiation and contamination and explains the difference between the two. Participants learn where natural and man-made radiation comes from, how it's measured and how to protect themselves from it.

  • Susquehanna Plant Update gives participants an overview of how the Susquehanna nuclear plant works. Participants learn about major plant activities in progress and upcoming events. They also learn about issues affecting the nuclear power industry.

Information specialists also are available to visit community organizations and classrooms from kindergarten to college level to speak about the Susquehanna nuclear plant and related energy subjects.

Susquehanna Energy Information Center programs are free and are available Monday through Saturday. Reservations are required a minimum of a week in advance for organized programs and can be made up to six months in advance. Scheduling depends on staff availability.

Visitors can enjoy the center's displays and exhibits Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No reservations are required.

A variety of public recreation and environmental education opportunities also are available at PPL's Susquehanna Riverlands, a 1,200-acre nature preserve adjacent to the center and the plant.
