Programs & Workshops

PPL is committed to being a partner in education. Our workshops give teachers the strategies and tools that they can use in incorporating energy- or environmental-related topics in the classroom. Developed by educators, the techniques can be used in a range of disciplines, including the environmental sciences, math, language arts and consumer studies. The lessons contain up-to-date, objective information that teachers can use to help students develop critical thinking skills.

Field trips to PPL Maine hydroelectric stations are a great way for school students to learn about energy, the environment and their community's heritage. Teachers can make arrangements by calling us at 207-827-2247.

PPL funded a river exhibit at the Maine Discovery Museum in Bangor. The exhibit provides a fun-filled, hands-on opportunity to learn about hydropower. Youngsters can sail boats, pump water through pipes, and create power at a miniature hydroelectric dam. For more information about the museum and its programs, visit its Web site at www.mainediscoverymuseum.org.
