The Keystone power plant, consisting of two coal-fired, steam-electric generation units, is located about 40 miles northwest of Johnstown, Pa.
Unit 1 started commercial operation in 1967 and Unit 2 went on line a year later. The station also includes four diesel-fired combustion turbine generators rated at 2.75 megawatts each and uses four cooling towers.
There are seven co-owners in Keystone. PPL Montour LLC, a subsidiary of PPL Generation LLC, has a 12.34 percent undivided interest in the facility, representing 211 megawatts. An affiliate of Reliant Energy is the operator.
The plant employs about 175 people. |
