PPL Gas Utilities Installing New Gas Line in Bedford to Increase Capacity, Maintain Reliability

Construction project to affect traffic in Orchard Heights, north Bedford

PPL Gas Utilities is installing 11,000 feet of new gas main in Bedford. Beginning Monday (10/1), the construction project will limit traffic on Orchard Way between School Street and Railroad Street to one lane from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Traffic will be directed by flag holders. Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution in the work zones.

“This project is part of PPL Gas Utilities ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving our delivery system,” said Craig Hunter, PPL Gas Utilities operations manager. “The new gas main will improve our ability to meet demand in the Bedford area,”

Construction of the new gas main began Sept. 24 and is expected to continue through mid-November. Lane restrictions are anticipated for the duration of the project.

PPL Gas Utilities, a subsidiary of PPL Corporation (NYSE: PPL), provides natural gas delivery service to 76,000 homes and businesses in 34 Pennsylvania counties and a small portion of Maryland.
