Negotiators for PPL and Local 1600 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union have reached agreement on a new, four-year labor contract. The tentative agreement was signed by the parties on Tuesday (5/9).
The company will not release terms of the agreement until the union has had a chance to discuss the settlement with its members. Members will vote by mail over the next several weeks.
The current four-year pact expired at midnight Sunday (5/7) and union members agreed to continue working on a day-by-day basis until the new agreement is ratified.
Local 1600 represents about 3,500 PPL employees at company operations in Pennsylvania. It is the largest of the company's labor unions.
