Residents, business owners, community organizations and local government officials are among the members of PPL’s Wallenpaupack public advisory committee, the company announced Monday (8/14).
“We’re looking forward to a frank dialogue on all of the issues regarding the operation of Lake Wallenpaupack,” said Paul Canevari, PPL’s regional community relations director for the lake area. “We’re confident that this group will help us do a better job of staying in touch with the people who have an interest in our operations.”
The group will meet regularly to discuss issues about the lake and downstream on the Paupack Creek and the Lackawaxen River, Canevari said. Its first meeting will be held in the next week or so, he said.
Included on the committee are officials of Pike and Wayne counties; representatives of municipalities around the lake including the Borough of Hawley and Palmyra and Lackawaxen townships; businesspeople; members of community groups; and area residents.
“This group will bring many interests and perspectives around the same table,” Canevari said. “We’re anxious to hear the suggestions and recommendations, and to discuss them with the group in the context of continuing to meet the operating requirements of our Federal Energy Regulatory Commission license.”
PPL Corporation (NYSE: PPL), headquartered in Allentown, Pa., controls about 11,500 megawatts of generating capacity in the United States, sells energy in key U.S. markets and delivers electricity to more than 5 million customers in Pennsylvania, the United Kingdom and Latin America.
