Situation: With more than 700 linemen and electricians concentrating their efforts on restoring power across the Pocono Mountain region of northeastern Pennsylvania, the number of customers living without electricity has been reduced by half over the last 24 hours — from 30,000 to 15,000. Customers continue to report new power outages, as has been the case since last Thursday (1/6).

Estimated Restoration Time: Most customers are expected to be back in service by Wednesday night (1/12). With the current workload, some customers may be without electricity until Thursday (1/13).
Additional Information: Customers in the Hazleton area, Schuylkill County and southern portions of Carbon County who were without electricity because of the ice storm are back in service. The restoration effort now focuses on northern portions of Carbon County, parts of Luzerne County and Monroe County.
Crews have worked through a steady snowfall today, continuing to restore power across the Poconos. Counting line crews, tree trimming crews and support personnel, more than 1,000 people are working to restore power. Work will continue around the clock until all customers have electricity back.
