PPL Holds Environmental Workshop for New Jersey Teachers

About 25 educators from Warren County, N.J., discovered the natural resources available to them at the Tekening Hiking Trails at PPL Corporation's Martins Creek Environmental Preserve during "Into the Woods," an in-service workshop that PPL held today in Martins Creek, Pa.

The teachers received supporting material for a curriculum based on natural resources found at the preserve. They also received an interactive, instructional CD-ROM that contained a compilation of interesting information about the preserve and PPL's Martins Creek power plant.

The CD-ROM is designed to assist teachers in getting their students interested in studying nature in their own backyards.

"This workshop provided teachers with an opportunity to learn more about the wealth of environmental information available at the Martins Creek Environmental Preserve," said Meg Welker, PPL's education relations director. "The session also provided PPL with an opportunity to show the public that the energy industry and nature can coexist."

PPL held today's workshop as part of PPL Project Earth, an initiative through which the company educates the public about energy resources and the environment. For more information, visit www.pplprojectearth.com or write to pplpreserves@pplweb.com.
