Jerrold McCormick, an environmental scientist at PPL’s Susquehanna nuclear power plant, has been elected president of the Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Professionals for 2003.
This nonpolitical organization promotes environmental education, research, planning, assessment, review and management through a multidisciplinary professional society.
"The association provides environmental professionals who are members valuable opportunities to interact with regulators and academics, and receive information about the latest environmental science and policy issues," said McCormick, a three-year Susquehanna plant employee and resident of Millville, Pa.
As president of the association, McCormick said his primary goal will be to broaden the membership of the association to include more representatives from academia, regulatory agencies and corporations.
"PPL’s involvement in the Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Professionals demonstrates that we are an outward-looking corporation, one that interacts with the rest of the environmental community," McCormick said.
The association’s 2003 annual conference will be April 30 in Harrisburg, Pa. The theme will be "Urban/Suburban Environment: Natural, Cultural and Socioeconomic Resource Issues."
