PPL has announced the winners of its annual scholastic competition aimed at helping young people understand business issues and develop problem-solving skills.

Palmyra High School of Lebanon County and Wallenpaupack Area High School of Pike County won the final round of the "Let's Get Real" competition held March 25 at PPL Corp. headquarters in Allentown, Pa.

Eight schools, fielding 11 teams in the contest, tackled two problems identified by PPL.

Palmyra High School won for identifying a biofuel to reduce dependency on fossil fuel. Wallenpaupack Area High School won for identifying ways for PPL to use the Internet to improve its visibility and find new customers.

A panel of PPL judges evaluated the students' written and oral presentations.

Students on the winning teams each received two shares of PPL stock. Runner-up students each received one share of stock.

The "Let's Get Real" competition is sponsored annually by PPL and administered by the Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Children. The program is open to students of public, private, parochial and home schools in Pennsylvania.
