PPL Restores Service to 32,000 Lancaster Customers Affected by Overnight Storms

PPL Utilities worked through the night Sunday (6/25) to restore power to about 32,000 customers in Lancaster County after severe slow-moving storms hit the area.

About 3,200 customers who remain without power are expected to be back in service by early evening. PPL Utilities has repaired about 200 separate cases of electrical problems related to the storm.

A cluster of affected customers in Cocalico, Lancaster County, and Sinking Spring, Berks County, should have their power back by early this afternoon.

A strong storm system stalled over the Lancaster area Sunday night. Lightning knocked out several transformers, creating much of the damage. Crews have been moved in from other PPL regions and contractors have been called to assist in the power restoration efforts.

"Our crews our determined to restore service as soon as possible," said Bob Gombos, vice president, Mobile Work Force. "We will continue to work throughout the day to restore power to the remaining 3,200 customers."

PPL customers who are without power and haven't yet reported the outage should call 1-800-342-5775.
