PP&L, Inc. Recognizes Area Agencies for Support of Universal Service Programs

PP&L, Inc. has recognized the work of two social service agencies in northeastern Pennsylvania for support of the company's universal service programs.

The Scranton-Lackawanna Human Development Agency has enrolled about 600 clients in PP&L's OnTrack program. OnTrack is a special payment plan for residential customers that helps them reduce monthly costs and erase their debt to PP&L.

The TREHAB Center of Montrose has enrolled more than 200 clients in Susquehanna, Pike, Wayne and Wyoming counties in the OnTrack program.

"We rely on those agencies to administer OnTrack and other special services for customers with financial hardships," said Joy Schmalzle, PP&L customer programs director for northeastern Pennsylvania.

PP&L is a leader among electric utilities in providing universal service and energy conservation programs. The programs help assure that needy families in the area are able to pay their electric bills and avoid shutoffs of their electric service. The programs also help PP&L reduce costs involved with the collection of overdue bills.

In addition to OnTrack, PP&L has free weatherization and energy education services, a fund called Operation HELP that provides emergency financial assistance so families can pay their heating bills, and an outreach program called CARES that offers budget counseling and referrals to other community programs.

PP&L presented plaques to employees of both agencies in recognition of their work.
