Here is the latest information from PP&L, Inc. on Hurricane Floyd as of 10:30 a.m.:
-- PP&L storm emergency personnel continue to monitor the storm's track closely as it moves up the East Coast. The company's emergency center in Allentown will remain open until the threat of Floyd has passed.
-- As of 9 a.m. Thursday (9/16), 3,500 PP&L customers are without power, nearly all of them in the Allentown, Bethlehem and Lancaster areas. PP&L had few power outages overnight affecting less than 500 customers.
-- So far, PP&L has been able to respond to power outages with its own crews. As a precaution, PP&L has contacted other electric companies and contractors about the possibility of providing crews to help repair storm damage, if needed.
-- Any PP&L customer who experiences a power outage should call the company's toll-free service number, 1-800-342-5775 (1-800 DIAL PPL) to report the problem.
PP&L will issue periodic storm updates throughout the day and evening.
