PP&L Continues to Work to Restore Power After Wind Storm; Service Restored to 61,000 Customers since Tuesday Evening

Here is the latest update on PP&L, Inc.'s efforts to restore service to customers left without power by the strong, gusty winds that blew through eastern and central Pennsylvania Tuesday (11/2):

7 As of 6:30 a.m., 10,000 PP&L customers remain without power because of the storm. More than 9,000 of those customers are in the eastern portions of PP&L's 29-county service area, including the Lehigh Valley, the Poconos and Carbon and Luzerne counties.

7 PP&L crews have restored service to 63,000 customers since 5 p.m. Tuesday. Crews worked through the night and will continue until every customer is restored to service. Today, PP&L crews will be assisted by local contractors.

7 To speed the restoration effort, PP&L is moving crews from the western portions of its service area - the Harrisburg and Williamsport areas - to the hardest-hit areas.

7 PP&L estimates that most customers will be back in service by the end of the day today (11/3). Some customers in more rural areas may not have power restored until Thursday morning (11/4).

7 PP&L customers who find they are without power this morning, and haven't yet reported the outage, should call the company's toll-free customer service number, 1-800-342-5775 (1-800 DIAL PPL).

7 The winds have resulted in downed wires in many areas. Customers who see a wire on the ground should call PP&L immediately to report the problem and stay at least 12 feet away from the wire for safety.
