Here is the latest update on PP&L, Inc.'s efforts to restore service to customers left without electricity by Tuesday's (11/2) windstorm:
- PP&L crews have been working around the clock since Tuesday evening to restore electricity to customers affected by the high winds.
- As of 4 p.m., about 4,000 PP&L customers are without electricity. Most are in northeastern Pennsylvania. In the last 24 hours, PP&L has restored service to 75,000 customers across its 29-county service area.
- New York State Electric & Gas Corp. crews from the Binghamton and Elmira areas will be arriving later today in northeastern Pennsylvania to support PP&L's recovery effort. Several local contractors also are involved in the restoration effort.
- PP&L has moved its own crews from Harrisburg, Lancaster and Williamsport to help in the hardest-hit areas.
- Crews already have made more than 500 repairs to wires, poles and equipment. They still have another 250 jobs to complete before all customers have their electric service restored.
- Because of the number of jobs still to be done, some customers in Monroe, Pike and Wayne counties will be without power until Thursday. PP&L has been calling many of those customers throughout the day to keep them informed and offer needed services such as bottled water and ice.
