The largest energy-purchasing group in Pennsylvania - a group whose members include nearly half the state's school districts and a number of municipalities - has again endorsed PP&L EnergyPlus as the preferred energy supplier for its members.
PENCON - the Pennsylvania Energy Consortium - has 325 members, which purchase a combined total of more than 1.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
"The relationship between PENCON and PP&L EnergyPlus has been outstanding," said Jeff Kimball, PENCON's president and co-founder. "PP&L EnergyPlus has worked with our members to help them reduce their electricity costs. We're pleased that this new agreement will continue the relationship until 2001."
"We look forward to furthering the relationship with PENCON and its members across Pennsylvania," said Larry De Simone, president of PP&L EnergyPlus.
"We offer PENCON members a fully integrated energy strategy," he said. "With our competitively priced electricity supply, and our ability to call on affiliated companies that offer energy management services, we help PENCON members manage their expenses."
PP&L EnergyPlus also announced that it is continuing its financial commitment to the PENCON Foundation, an educational fund for PENCON-member school districts.
To date, PP&L EnergyPlus has contributed about $80,000 to the foundation for scholarships and other educational programs, based on a portion of the annual energy supply revenue PP&L EnergyPlus receives from PENCON school district accounts.
"The PP&L Resources family of companies is interested and involved in education," De Simone noted. "Support of the PENCON Foundation is another way we are able to expand education partnerships and demonstrate our commitment to help school districts meet more than just their energy needs."
"We evaluated offers from several energy suppliers," Kimball said. "PP&L EnergyPlus has proven that it is willing and able to do things that set it apart from other suppliers," he said.
