Lake Aldred Water Levels Will Change Due to Holtwood Dam Repairs

PP&L, Inc., will reduce water levels on Lake Aldred by 4 to 5 feet for much of October to allow for maintenance of the Holtwood hydroelectric dam.

Starting Wednesday (9/30) and continuing throughout October, water levels will be lowered Monday through Thursday while workers repair concrete on the crest and walk areas atop the dam. If weather interrupts work during the week, water levels may be lowered on Fridays as well.

Lake Aldred water level will return to normal each weekend.

Recreational boating and fishing is not recommended during periods when the water level is lowered. The lower water level affects boating and fishing in both York and Lancaster counties.

Lake Aldred is an 8-mile body of water formed by the Holtwood Dam on the lower Susquehanna River. PP&L, Inc., owns and operates recreational facilities on both sides of the lake, including boat ramps at Pequea and York Furnace.
