The Discovery Center of Science and Technology Thursday (5/21) unveiled its newest addition -- a section devoted to understanding electricity -- thanks to the support of PP&L, Inc.
Dozens of elementary school students from Allentown's Central School were among the first to use the hands-on, interactive displays designed to teach about electricity.
At one display, visitors can walk on a treadmill to generate electricity, which powers a television camera and displays their face on television. Another teaches the value of conserving energy.
"We're thrilled to be partnering with PP&L on this exhibit area," said Lin Erickson, chief executive officer and executive director of the Discovery Center. "Partnerships such as this one will continue to pave the way for our future."
In addition to funding the electricity display, PP&L is a corporate sponsor of the nonprofit Discovery Center, at 511 E. Third St., Bethlehem.
"PP&L has a long history of supporting our communities, and of working to enhance the education of future generations," said Frank Long, chief operating officer of PP&L. "It's our pleasure to enhance this valuable community asset by funding this new electricity display."
