PP&L, Inc. and IBEW Reach Tentative Contract Agreement

Negotiators for PP&L, Inc. and IBEW Local 1600 reached a tentative contract agreement late Friday night (6/5). The four-year tentative agreement would replace the contract that expired May 18.

"Both parties have worked long and hard to get an agreement that will benefit PP&L, Inc. employees and allow the union and management to meet the challenges of competition and deregulation head-on," said Charlie Pinto, PP&L, Inc.'s vice president-Human Resources, the company's chief negotiator.

Pinto said that details of the tentative contract are not being released at this time.

"IBEW leadership will be sharing the specifics of the contract with their members at meetings to be scheduled this week. We will not release the details until the union members have had an opportunity to discuss the contract with their leadership," said Pinto.

Pinto said a ratification vote by union members is expected to take about three weeks.

IBEW Local 1600 represents about 4,100 PP&L, Inc. employees.
