Operators at the Susquehanna nuclear power plant manually shut down Unit 2 Sunday (6/7) to replace a seal on a pump in the reactor's water recirculation system.
While the unit is shut down, plant personnel also will do other maintenance items that can be performed only when the unit is out of service, said Herbert D. Woodeshick, PP&L, Inc.'s special assistant to the president for Susquehanna.
The Susquehanna plant, located in Luzerne County about five miles north of Berwick, is owned jointly by PP&L, Inc. and Allegheny Electric Cooperative,Inc.
