PP&L, Inc. crews continue to make progress in restoring service to customers in Quarryville in southern Lancaster County. Crews expect to finish restoring service to about 3,400 Quarryville customers tomorrow (6/3) morning.
PP&L, Inc. customers in that area can obtain dry ice free of charge to keep perishables cold until they have electricity for their refrigerators and freezers. They can obtain the dry ice at the Quarryville Fire Co. and at the Bart Township Fire Hall. Anyone handling dry ice should wear gloves.
"We thank our customers for their patience and understanding," said Larry Downing, community development director for Lancaster. "Our area experienced very strong winds from the storms. The damage to our system in the Quarryville was widespread. In some areas, poles and power lines will have to be replaced.
"Consequently, we have all available crews working on service restoration. Some crews came in from Harrisburg, once they completed their repair there."
