PP&L, Inc., crews made good progress overnight in restoring service to customers in its service territory affected by the latest round of severe weather to hit Pennsylvania. As of 6 a.m. today (7/1), about 7,900 customers remain without service. The storms affected service to about 68,000 customers.
PP&L, Inc., crews will be assisted today by 28 crews from other utilities — Public Service Electric and Gas Co. of New Jersey and New York State Electric and Gas Co. — and from private contractors.
As of early today, PP&L, Inc., expects storm restoration work to be completed later today.
"Our crews made a tremendous effort overnight to restore service to our customers," said Robert M. Geneczko, vice president of Power Delivery for PP&L, Inc. "They will continue their work throughout the day to complete their restoration efforts."
Severe storms hit PP&L, Inc.'s service area late yesterday afternoon and early evening. Strong winds and lightning caused the service interruptions. The strong winds tore down trees and limbs, breaking poles and pulling down wires.
