John P. Kierzkowski, president of PP&LSpectrum, Inc. , will retire effective March 1. PP&L Spectrum, a wholly owned subsidiary of PP&L Resources, Inc., markets energy-related products and services.
"John has done an excellent job in establishing PP&L Resources' energy services business. He has helped us build an important foundation that will allow us to better meet customer needs in a more competitive energy marketplace," said William F. Hecht, chairman, president and chief executive officer of PP&L Resources. "John has made major contributions to the company in his various positions over the past 27 years. We wish him well in his retirement."
Kierzkowski has served as president of PP&L Spectrum since its founding in July of 1995.
Hecht said that Frank Long, PP&L Resources executive vice president, will serve as PP&L Spectrum president while retaining his current responsibilities as chief operating officer.
Long said that the company continues to believe that energy services will be an important part of its business in the future. "We will be working to expand these energy-related services and to coordinate our offerings with H.T. Lyons, our newly acquired heating, ventilating and air-conditioning firm," said Long.
Dan Persa, vice president-PP&L Spectrum, will have day-to-day responsibility for Spectrum's operations and coordination with H.T. Lyons.
Kierzkowski joined PP&L as manager-Financial Research in 1971. He became assistant treasurer in 1981 and was elected vice president and treasurer of PP&L in 1985, a position that he held until being elected president of PP&L Spectrum in 1995.
