PP&L EnergyPlus has been chosen as the energy supplier for six agencies of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania as part of a wide-ranging energy agreement that is expected to save taxpayers $3.1 million.
PP&L EnergyPlus will serve the departments of General Services (including the governor's mansion and the capitol complex), Corrections, Labor & Industry and Military and Veterans Affairs, along with the Farm Show Bureau and the 14 universities in the State System of Higher Education.
This major electricity supply agreement with the commonwealth of Pennsylvania further expands the growing list of key customers around the state who have chosen PP&L EnergyPlus.
"We are delighted to be supplying energy to six agencies of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania," said Lawrence De Simone, PP&L EnergyPlus president. "PP&L EnergyPlus is becoming the premier supplier for businesses, education, industrial and institutional customers throughout the state."
The selection by six Pennsylvania agencies follows endorsements by several major customers groups:
The Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry chose PP&L EnergyPlus as the preferred supplier for its 5,600 member businesses statewide.
The largest energy purchasing group in Pennsylvania — the Pennsylvania Energy Consortium — chose PP&L EnergyPlus to supply more than half the school districts in Pennsylvania, along with 20 municipalities.
The Delaware Valley Energy Consortium, representing 74 public school districts, 43 private schools, 22 municipalities, eight vocational-technical schools and four intermediate units, chose PP&L EnergyPlus.
An organization representing more than 80 independent colleges and universities also selected PP&L EnergyPlus as the best provider of energy.
"PP&L EnergyPlus has the competitive price, solid experience and excellent service major customers need," said De Simone. "We provide simple, powerful solutions for our energy customers."
