PP&L to Co-Sponsor Earth Day Festival April 25 at Wallenpaupack Area High School

PP&L, Inc. will co-sponsor the Pike-Wayne Earth Day Festival Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of Wallenpaupack Area High School. The festival is open free to the public and will include exhibits, games, food, items for sale and other events.

Special events include: an Earth Day proclamation and tree planting ceremony at 11 a.m.; at 1 p.m., a "Live Birds of Prey" program hosted by the Delaware Valley Raptor Center; and at 2:30 p.m., a musical concert by "Mission Road" environmental folk group.

Other activities and exhibits include: Lacawac Sanctuary's Little Black Bear Nature Store; The Potting Shed at Settlers Inn; visits from Smokey the Bear and Woodsy Owl; birdwatching; a wildflower walk; face painting,a puppet show, wildlife games; and information tables and free literature from the Pennsylvania Game Commission, Audubon Society, Pennsylvania Fish& Boat Commission, Forest Service at Grey Towers, Pike and Wayne counties conservation districts and others.

The event is being held by PP&L's Environmental Education Steering Committee at Lake Wallenpaupack. The steering committee is made up of representatives from: PP&L, Inc., Pike County Conservation District, Wallenpaupack AreaSchool District, Lacawac Sanctuary, Northeast Pennsylvania Audubon Society and the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
