PP&L Will Overhaul High-Voltage Power Line

PP&L, Inc. is renovating a high-voltage power line from the Susquehanna nuclear power plant into Lehigh County to ensure customers continue to receive reliable electric service. No PP&L customers will have electrical service interrupted by the work.

"By doing the proper maintenance work and making necessary repairs, we ensure that this important high-voltage line continues to provide reliable electric service to our customers," said Robert M. Geneczko, PP&L's vice president for Power Delivery.

The power line runs through Columbia, Luzerne, Carbon and Lehigh counties and ends at a substation near Alburtis in Lehigh County. Work on the line is scheduled to begin Monday (4/6) and will continue throughout the next several weeks, weather permitting.

Experienced power line workers will inspect the line and make any necessary repairs from a platform attached to a helicopter. During some of this work, the 500,000-volt line will be out of service; at other times, it will be in service.
