Lake Aldred Boaters Should be Aware of Changing Water Levels

PP&L officials said Lake Aldred will be lowered Monday through Friday beginning Monday (9/22) for at least two weeks as a contractor repairs concrete on top of the Holtwood hydroelectric dam. The water level will return to normal Friday evening through Sunday.

Recreational boating and fishing is not recommended during periods when the water level is lowered due to shallow water. Boating and fishing in both York and Lancaster counties will be affected by the lowered water level.

Lake Aldred is an 8-mile body of water formed by the Holtwood dam on the lower Susquehanna River. PP&L owns and operates recreational facilities on both sides of the lake, which include the boat ramps at Pequea and York Furnace.

Additional information can be obtained by calling the lower Susquehanna River Hotline at (800) 692-6328.
