Pennsylvania Power & Light Co. advises customers — especially the elderly — to be wary of people trying to enter their homes or asking for money by posing as PP&L employees.
Pennsylvania State Police have provided details on several recent incidents in which scam artists, claiming to represent PP&L, have asked to enter a customer's home or have asked for money.
PP&L employees do not do electrical work inside customers' homes and do not collect money from customers. PP&L employees do not ask to enter customers' homes unless they make an appointment in advance for a specific purpose.
All PP&L employees carry photo identification cards and will show them on request.
To avoid becoming a scam victim, ask anyone claiming to represent PP&L for identification. Customers who are not sure of the visitor's identity should call PP&L toll-free at 1-800-DIAL PPL (1-800-342-5775) to check.
