PP&L Names Human Resources Vice President

Pennsylvania Power & Light Co. announced Wednesday (5/28) that it has named Charles P. Pinto as the company's vice president-Human Resources. The appointment is effective July 7.

Pinto comes to PP&L from American Express Corp., where he served as senior relationship leader of Human Resources for the Consumer Card Services Group.

"We are very pleased that Charlie has agreed to join our organization," said William F. Hecht, PP&L's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "His experience with American Express and, prior to that, in the very competitive telecommunications business will be very important to PP&L as we seek to thrive in the emerging energy marketplace."

Pinto, 49, earned degrees in both education and business administration/finance from the University of Delaware. He also earned an M.B.A. from Widener University.

Mike Kroboth, who has headed PP&L's Human Resources group since 1994, was named the company's vice president-Strategic Development in March.

Before joining American Express, Pinto served as vice president for Human Resources and vice president of Employee and Labor Relations at Sprint Corp. He also worked for 18 years with Avon Products Inc., serving in a variety of capacities, including vice president-Human Resources.

Pinto lives in Upper Makefield, Pa., with his wife, Joy. The couple has four children.
