Due to business demands, Derek C. Hathaway is resigning from the PP&L Resources board of directors on July 1.
"While I understand his need to step down, it is with regret that we accept the resignation of Derek Hathaway," said William F. Hecht, PP&L chairman, president and chief executive officer. "His insight and keen business perspective have been invaluable to PP&L Resources as we develop plans to succeed in a more competitive energy business."
Hathaway, who is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Harsco Corp., Camp Hill, has served as a PP&L director since 1995. In his resignation letter to Hecht, Hathaway said "it has been a pleasure and an education to work with you and your colleagues; I wish you well for the future."
With Hathaway's resignation, there now are 11 members of the PP&L Resources board. Hathaway also resigned as a member of the board of Pennsylvania Power & Light Co., PP&L Resources' main subsidiary
