The McDonald's LPGA Championship -- a major golf tournament with the power to raise millions of dollars for charity -- is getting a boost of energy from Pennsylvania Power & Light Co.
PP&L is providing six portable generators to supply electricity to hospitality tents around the golf course, at the Dupont Country Club in Wilmington. The tournament begins Monday (5/12) and runs through May 18.
"We see this tournament as a great opportunity to support a very worthy cause, while spreading the word about PP&L's quality service and commitment to the communities it serves," said John Sipics, vice president-Retail Energy Supply at PP&L.
The annual tournament is one of four major events on the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour. It has raised more than $23 million for the Ronald McDonald House Charities during its 16-year history. Ronald McDonald Houses offer terminally ill children a place to stay with their families during treatment.
