Thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon (7/9) interrupted power to 13,500 customers of Pennsylvania Power & Light Co.
Hardest hit were the Pocono area of the utility's Lehigh region and the Lancaster region. Isolated high winds and lightening strikes caused the power outages.
PP&L moved crews from the Scranton area to assist in restoration of electric service for customers in the Lehigh region and from the Harrisburg area to Lancaster. In all 6,900 customers lost service in Lehigh region, while 4,600 were without electricity in Lancaster region and 1,100 in the utility's Northeast region.
The company expected most customers to have service restored by early Thursday morning (7/10).
