PP&L Names Vice President-Strategic Development

Pennsylvania Power & Light Co. has named Michael E. Kroboth to the new position of vice president-Strategic Development.

Kroboth, who has served as the company's general manager-Human Resource & Development since 1994, will report to William F. Hecht, PP&L's chairman, president and chief executive officer.

"In this new position, Mike will be working on projects related to the company's strategic plans for the more competitive energy marketplace," said Hecht. Kroboth will remain in charge of Human Resource & Development until a successor is selected. He also will continue to serve as the company's chief spokesperson and negotiator through the ratification process on the recently announced tentative labor agreement between the company and IBEW Local 1600.

Kroboth, who began his PP&L career as an engineer 25 years ago, served in a number of management positions in the company's fuel procurement department. He also was manager of the company's new capacity planning group, manager of the fossil plant engineering group and director of the company's continuous improvement process.

Also, the company announced that Bob Geneczko has been named vice president-Power Delivery, reflecting the changes in his responsibilities that are resulting from restructuring related to preparation for the competitive electricity marketplace. Geneczko had been vice president-Electrical Systems.
