A $1 million interest-free loan from Pennsylvania Power & Light Co. will help the Union County Industrial Development Corp. purchase an industrial site in Gregg Township, north of Allenwood.
PP&L is making the 10-year loan for the 410-acre site as part of its partnership program for the acquisition of industrial land.
"Through this program, eligible nonprofit economic development organizations in PP&L's service area can borrow up to $1 million to acquire land for corporate office or industrial use," said Robert E. Ruffaner, PP&L's community development director for the Sunbury area.
"At PP&L, we believe that our success depends very much on the vitality of the communities we serve. For more than 60 years, PP&L has been a partner with local, regional and state economic development groups to bring business and industry to the area.
"The partnership program for industrial land acquisition is one example of our commitment to helping the communities in PP&L's service area grow and prosper economically," he added, "and we are pleased to be able to assist the UCIDC."
The Gregg Township site is part of the 670-acre Union County Business Park that UCIDC is developing, Ruffaner said. The park is planned for mixed use, including commercial, industrial, residential and recreational.
