PP&L Employees Contribute More Than $44,500 to Greater Hazleton United Way

Pennsylvania Power & Light Co. employees gave $44,550 to this year's Greater Hazleton United Way campaign.

"At PP&L, we have always taken our obligation to our communities and our employees contributions to the United Way very seriously," said Martha Herron, PP&L community development director in the Hazleton area. "I'm especially pleased about our employees' response to PP&L's Corporate Challenge program. Under the program, the company matches dollar-for-dollar every increase in employee giving, and the money is donated to employees' United Way agencies of choice. Employees in our area gave $4,305 in new dollars to this year's campaign."

P&L employees in the immediate Hazleton area raised $30,500 in total employee giving to the Greater Hazleton United Way. The other $14,000 was raised by PP&L employees from other areas.

In addition to employee giving, the Greater Hazleton United Way will receive a $20,000 corporate contribution from PP&L.

A number of PP&L employees were involved in this year's campaign, including Patty Sinex, who served as loaned executive coordinator for this year's United Way Campaign; Melanie Pensock and Anna Jean Onuschak, who served as loaned executives; Mike Komishock and Mark Moyer, who were co-chairmen for PP&L's employee campaign for United Way in Hazleton; and Pam Yale, who serves on United Way's board of directors.
